Newsweek trashes the Bible in support of homosexual marriage

Send an e-mail to Newsweek telling Newsweek you are disappointed with its distorted interpretation of scripture.

Newsweek magazine has published a lengthy article stating that the Bible supports homosexual marriage. The article was written Lisa Miller, Newsweek religion editor.

Miller's article is one of the most biased and distorted pieces concerning homosexual marriage ever published by any major news organization. The article is much too long for this e-mail.

Dr. Albert Mohler has offered a response to the Newsweek article. I suggest you read Mohler’s article and then read Miller's Newsweek article.

Mohler made a significant point in his response: "The national news media are collectively embarrassed by the passage of Proposition 8 in California. Gay rights activists are publicly calling on the mainstream media to offer support for gay marriage, arguing that the media let them down in November. It appears that Newsweek intends to do its part to press for same-sex marriage. Many observers believe that the main obstacle to this agenda is a resolute opposition grounded in Christian conviction. Newsweek clearly intends to reduce that opposition."

Gays launch hate attack against Mormons because of their support for traditional marriage

Thank the LDS church for its support of Proposition 8

Homosexual activists have launched a hate campaign against the Mormons because of the church's support for Proposition 8 in California. Prop 8 defined marriage as being between a man and a woman. Here are some examples of how gays are targeting Mormons:

A lawsuit by Fred Karger, homosexual activist, claims that the Mormons violated election laws in California.
Richard Raddon, director of the Los Angeles Film Festival, was forced to resign when it was discovered he contributed $1,500 to support Prop 8.
Homosexual groups are calling for the revocation of tax-exempt status.

The Mormons played a vital role in the Prop 8 battle, and traditional marriage would have lost had it not been for their support. While other churches were also involved in the battle to protect marriage - including Catholics and evangelicals - the homosexuals have singled out the Mormons as their target of anger.

I urge you to sign the petition thanking the LDS for their good work in the marriage battle. Several nationally known leaders have already expressed their support. In addition to myself, the list includes Dr. James Dobson of Focus on the Family, Charles Colson of Prison Fellowship, Tony Perkins of Family Research Council, Paul Weyrich of Free Congress Foundation, Richard Land of the Southern Baptist Convention, and Gary Bauer of American Values. We will forward the petition to LDS leaders.

The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops has offered "prayerful support and steadfast solidarity" to the LDS church for its efforts on behalf of Proposition 8.

Methodist Church's Ultra-Liberal Immigration Policy

Did you know that United Methodist apportionment dollars are funding a church-led campaign in support of more illegal immigration?

This Fall, the United Methodist Board of Church and Society, our church’s $5 million political lobby office in Washington, D.C., is organizing a series of seminars speaking against our nation’s immigration laws. Several of our bishops will enthusiastically participate.

UM Action needs your help right now to counter this lopsided radical political witness from our own UMC lobby office. Our goal is to raise $50,000 by November 30. This will enable UM Action to send staff to uncover these radical activities, publish our investigative reports, write resolutions for next year’s annual conferences, and to offer a better, more balanced and BIBLICAL political witness.

But let me first tell you about Church and Society’s ultra-liberal crusade against our nation’s immigration laws, and how several bishops will once again speak political rhetoric rather than the Gospel.

The overall theme from United Methodist officials has been that virtually any restriction against illegal immigration into America is “unjust.” According to liberal church officials, nearly everyone in the world has a “right” to live in the United States. To suggest otherwise is “racist” or uncaring or bigoted.

One of the seminars was in Arkansas in September. Another was outside Chicago in October. A United Methodist-sponsored rally for liberalizing immigration laws convened in Ohio in September. One of the speakers was Arizona’s Bishop Minerva Carcaño. She chairs the United Methodist Council of Bishops committee on immigration. She also heads a UMC “interagency task force” that “targets reform of U.S. immigration laws.”

According to Bishop Carcaño and other United Methodist officials, it’s all very, very simple. During the recent UM General Conference, several of our bishops held a press conference to denounce U.S. Government policies that “criminalize” illegal immigrants as a matter of “national security.” Bishops Mary Ann Swenson of the California-Pacific Annual Conference and retired Bishop Felton May spoke out in favor of liberalizing immigration laws.

Why do United Methodist Church officials get to spend church dollars on their pet political projects? And why do these liberal church bureaucrats commonly deride our church’s conservative members as bigoted for not being as supposedly enlightened as they are?

“Today’s policies on immigration are the new slavery,” Bishop Swenson unthoughtfully claimed. Bishop May pondered sarcastically, “I wonder what it would be like if we as United Methodists said, ‘Bushie [President Bush], tear down this wall [along the Mexican border]!’”

UMAction is about exposing and counteracting the radical and far-left politics that too many United Methodist officials offer up as a substitute for the Gospel.

Is Obama Court Headed to the Left?

There are growing concerns over who Barack Obama may have in mind for the U.S. Supreme Court.

Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute, or C-FAM, is taking a look at potential Supreme Court nominees, since president-elect Obama will fill at least one chair and perhaps more. C-FAM spokesman Piero Tozzi takes a look at one strong candidate, Yale Law School dean Harold Hongju Koh. Tozzi believes he would be dangerous to American interests.

"Dean Koh [has a] penchant for using foreign law sources, and he has argued in amicus briefs and law review articles in favor of importing foreign decisions into U.S. constitutional interpretation," he explains.

The balance of potential candidates, Tozzi notes, tends to lean far to the left. However, he says Obama's possible choices are no reason for the pro-life and pro-family community to go into hiding. "We have got to make people aware of just how radical the president is on abortion -- and it's an opportunity, I think, for a little soul-searching and also to rally the troops."

Tozzi contends a battle is indeed ahead, but it must be fought.
